Description

The Osprey Xenith 88 is ideal for backpackers who venture deep into the backcountry carrying camping essentials for more than a few nights out. The Xenith 88 is loaded with technical features that long distance hikers will appreciate. LightWire™ suspension and dual side compression straps keep the load stable even when moving through rugged terrain.

The heat-molded BioForm™ harness and hipbelt provides a precise customized fit to ensure all day comfort and a mesh backpanel keeps you cool if the temps heat up as you climb up the summit ridge.

The top of the pack is a dual compartment that can also be removed to save weight or converted into a lumbar pack for summit dashes. Two zippered hipbelt pockets keep your phone, snacks, and other essential items organized and close at hand. External stretch mesh pockets—two side and one rear—allow more grab and go storage options. The external hydration sleeve allows easy access to make liquid refills a snap. There are dual ice axe loops for alpine adventures and the Stow-on-the-Go™ trekking pole storage system lets you stash your sticks without breaking stride.

Comments about Osprey XENITH 88:

I use this pack for short and long backpacking trips. It's equally comfortable with a light load for a couple of days or with a heavy load for 7+ days. It's big enough that I can pack even more than I can carry. I like the variety of pockets and the external hydration sleeve. The only downside so far are some seams that are tearing.

        Comments about Osprey XENITH 88:

I bought this pack for my first hike. I had a 4 night 5 day hike planned along the Ozark Highland Trail, in NW Arkansas. I ended up doing 2 nights and 3 days. I should tell you that I am a new hiker and also a right leg amputee. I made a rookie mistake and packed too much...had about 45+ lbs of gear. The OHT is all up and down, river and stream crossings, rocks and wet ground. I think I covered nearly 4000 feet of elevation changes in the first day....my leg muscles were not happy. So, with very fatigued muscles and being an amputee some of the narrow trails on the cliffs left very little room for error. This pack fits snug, with compression straps holding my gear tight. The adjustment straps allow for the pack to be right where it needs to be, and although my pack was heavy and awkward picking up and moving around, it felt very much a of me when on and adjusted. I felt stable and sure footed through all the accents and descents. I didn't feel wobbly at all.
I hike alone and learned a lot about where I packed what and what I could have done without. I feel that I could have gotten rid of about 12-15 pounds and enjoyed the whole trip. I had thunderstorms my first night and then rain the following day. The Osprey rain cover did a great job. I look forward to many more hikes with it.
