The Explorer of Vertical Horizons
Lionel Daudet, called the “Dod”, is a free mountaineer who never stops climbing…
A real Spiderman, he enjoys exploring the most inaccessible regions of the world, from the Amazonia to the far north, whilst keeping an extraordinary sense of ethics –such as no use of a radio.
Born in 1968 in Maine-et-Loire (France), Lionel was attracted to the mountains from a young age. In 1992, he decided to follow his passion and commit himself to extreme mountaineering. Since then, he has successfully accomplished a range of expeditions.
In 2006, he began his new quest: "don’t aim for the highest summits, but for different ones." During three expeditions to the Deep South, he and his friends sailed through icy waters and battled giant cornices to stand on top of unclimbed, and hardly known, Antarctic peaks. In the process, they found that the best adventure stories are the ones that never end.
The real Tour de France
On the 10th August 2011, Lionel began the real 'Tour de France'. This year long expedition will see him cover 6500km following the exact contours of his native France with no motorised or mechanical aid throughout his journey - it's sure to be an inspiring adventure.
Starting at the summit of Mont Blanc (4807m), Lionel aims to bike, kayak, paraglide, climb and hike over the multitude of terrain set to challenge him.
