Description

The Osprey Aether 70 is designed to handle all the equipment required for an extensive backpacking trip or a long weekend of remote mountaineering.

The heat-moldable IsoForm CM™ hipbelt and harness blend cushioning and firmness to create a customized, comfortable fit, while the LightWire™ frame transfers weight from your spine to your hips. Dual side compression straps secure your load while the Airscape™ mesh backpanel keeps you dry even when you’re pushing hard to gain the top to the pass.

The main compartment is accessible via a large top opening or a front J-zip so you can find gear quickly. A separate sleeping bag compartment keeps your bag compressed and out of the way. The top lid converts to a lumbar pack for quick trips from camp. And if you need additional volume, Osprey’s Daylite daypack (sold separately) attaches to the exterior via reinforced loops.

Stretch mesh side pockets and zippered hipbelt pockets give you plenty of easy-access storage options and the back panel hydration sleeve makes liquid refills a breeze. The Stow-on-the-Go™ trekking pole attachment, ice axe loops, and removable sleeping pad straps provide plenty of secure external gear storage options.

    Comments about Osprey AETHER 70:

I am 51 yrs young and have been trekking since 12. I have had several packs in my life but this is BY FAR the best I have ever owned. Light, strong, easy to load and you hardly feel the weight. Only downfall for me was that the side pouches for your water bottle (mine is a Nalgene) are difficult to use. I quit trying and am using them for other gear.

    Comments about Osprey AETHER 70:

07/24/2016 I was surprised that this pack as so narrow that I could not fit my BearVault 500. It would not slide down to the bottom or the middle. Luckily the it could barely be squeezed into the top. My previous pack, Arcterryx Khamsin 62, was chosen to fit the bulky BearVault. My wife has an older Ariel 65, and the BearVault fits in easily. Apparently a re-design made all the packs narrower and TALLER. The two inches in increased frame height makes it impossible (even without a helmet) to look up merely with only a tip of the neck. I now have to lean the torso back. Does anybody find this trade-off height vs pack width a practical improvement?

      Comments about Osprey AETHER 70:

I've had this pack for a couple of years now and it's been fantastic. Everything from overnighters by myself, canoe trips and week long trips through the Rocky Mountains with my wife. Volume is great for when you need it but snugs down nice for shorter solo trips. The removable top is great for day trips from base camp. Comfort levels are through the roof. The straps are all really long which is a good thing. I trimmed and sewed to my sizing needs.

I'm 6'2" 200 lbs and the large size works well for me.

          Comments about Osprey AETHER 70:

Pack is top notch. It is a large pack, and not for the UL crowd of gram weenies, but for being such a large pack it is light... I can easily pack for a week of trail breaking, and have room for extra's. I routinely carry around 30lbs in it, and it doesn't feel like it is there. I have carried 60+ pounds on a 9 day, and it carried like a dream. For the record, I am 6'3" and 220.
