Osprey Packs, Inc., a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance, innovative packs to comfortably and efficiently carry gear, has hired Bradford Bates as their new Director of Sales, effective immediately.

As Director of Sales, Bates is responsible for leading Osprey’s overall domestic sales strategy. He will directly manage the outdoor channel and work closely with Patrick Piller, Osprey’s bike sales manager in managing the IBD channel. Bates will focus much of his time looking to enhance the relationships already in place and continue to develop programs that support both the internal and external sales teams at Osprey.

TwentyNineInches.com Features Osprey Raptor 10 Packs – January 2, 2011

This back pack/hydration system was with me on a lot of adventures in 2010. I never had any major complaints with the comfort, functionality, or overall performance of this pack at all. (See later on for my two big nits on the Raptor 10 below.) While nothing is perfect, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this pack did on rides. The Raptor 10 survived getting overstuffed, abused in mud, and totally drenched and came back with flying colors every time. 2010 Gear of the Year Award – December 21, 2010

Osprey Packs, Inc., a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance, innovative packs to comfortably and efficiently carry gear, has received Men’s Journal magazine’s 2010 Gear of the Year award for its Raptor 10 mountain biking hydration pack. It is featured in the current Gear of the Year special issue, available on newsstands now. Men’s Journal has a circulation of 700,000.

The Men’s Journal Gear of the Year award recognizes the top 25 pieces of gear for 2010 – the ones that are “innovators and game-changers….gear you don’t just want, but need.” In awarding it the 2010 Gear of the Year award, Men’s Journal gushed: “At 10 liters, the Osprey Raptor 10 fits everything you want for a long ride – food, tools, and a rain shell.
