Osprey Packs’ distribution operations will move from Colorado to Utah’s Wasatch Front next year, the company announced Tuesday. Well, it’s about that time of year, folks. Bust out the hiking poles, get on the new trail-runners, actually use that heart rate monitor you’ve bought last month. Wait, you don’t have any of that stuff? You’re in luck. Here’s a few of my favorite new outdoor gear items for the outdoorsy, active gal for summer 2014…

The Tempest series is Osprey’s newest women’s specific fit line of backpacks. With six Tempest models ranging in sizes from 6 liters to 40 liters, I found the Tempest 30 L to be perfect for springtime day hiking. This top loading, 1.9 pound pack  held all my gear for a long day hike easily, and the women’s specific hip belt and harness adjusted smoothly to fit my body like a glove. Much as I loved the bells and whistles of this bag-removable top pocket, bike light positioning, mesh side and front pockets-the adaptability of the pack to fit well against my body is what puts this pack at the top of my list.
