Osprey Packs, headquartered in Cortez, is supporting earthquake reconstruction efforts through collaboration with the Ridgway-based dZi Foundation. Osprey announced this week that its matching program, Double Down for dZi, will raise money to help Nepal’s most remote communities recover.

“Based in Colorado, the dZi Foundation is a trusted friend and neighbor to the Osprey family,” Sam Mix, Osprey Packs marketing outreach manager, said in a news release. “dZi is uniquely positioned to aid in the long-term, reconstruction efforts.”

DurangoHerald.com – Osprey Packs to Distribute from Northern Utah – September 23, 2014

Cortez-based Osprey Packs has chosen Ogden as the Utah city where it will move its U.S. distribution center.

Osprey made the announcement Monday. It was looking to move distribution to a transportation hub, and Ogden is just 40 miles north of Salt Lake City.

Osprey said in a news release that company headquarters – which includes sales, customer service, marketing, finance, returns and other core functions – will remain in Cortez. The company, which specializes in backpacks, daypacks and hydration packs, employs about 74 people locally.

Warehousing and shipping will move into a 108,000-square-foot building in Business Depot Ogden, which is being constructed and is expected to be ready by mid-2015, Osprey said in the release…
