Next Year’s Skis and Gear: Outdoor Retailer 2011

We’ve been trolling the floor at this year’s Outdoor Retailer trade show, checking out next winter’s gear. So far, the story has been about the sidecountry, and ski, boots, packs, and jackets that are designed to be used in the backcountry just as well as the resort. We also saw beefy but lightweight bindings, multiple airbag packs, a bunch of waterproof, breathable fabrics. Here’s what you’ll be coveting next fall.

Eco Mama’s – Featuring Slipstream – March 16, 2011

March 19, 2011

With Spring Break coming up and Summer just over the horizon, I’ve been feeling the effects of wanderlust.  It’s been a while since I’ve traveled and I’m so excited about all the cool new travel gear that’s emerged.  Things that organize and make it easier to travel, things to make the journey more comfortable, and many eco friendly options.   Stay tuned for the next few posts highlighting my exciting finds that will help make your travels more convenient and planet friendly.  Let’s start with an essential–luggage.

Never have I experienced a suitcase that glides like this OSPREY SLIPSTREAM wheelie bag. I’ve done some serious traveling in my life and I can’t believe I’m only now discovering Osprey.  This is nothing like all the schlepping of awkward gear I’ve done in the past (in fact I didn’t even realize how awkward it was until trying this).   I love the comfortable ergonomic handle and the big wheels that glide like they’re on ice.  It’s effortless.

NationalOutdoors.net – Featuring Raptor 10 – March 2011

March 17, 2011

The Osprey Raptor 10 is a feature-rich mountain biking hydration backpack. The pack’s capacity is 600 cubic inches. With an empty hydration bladder the pack weights 2 lbs. 4 ounces or just over a kilogram. There are two sizes depending on torso length. I tested the Osprey Raptor 10 while mountain biking on trails along the Wasatch Foothills. I also took it for a few day hikes and cross country skiing.

I enjoyed dragging this pack through the airports around Denver and Salt Lake City.  It has great big rollers, strong material and zippers.  Its very light. It has many inside compartments to hold all you goods and there is NO space wasted.  The frame is very tough.  Ospreys high quality backpacks are carried into there Vector Travel Series.  They make 3 sizes/colors. I reviewed the pepper color.
