It’s been argued the discovery of fire is mankind’s most important moment, but with burn bans occupying campgrounds across much of our drought-plagued nation, an open flame might not do you any good this year. Instead, you’ll need to rely on more modern innovations to keep you warm, dry, fed, and entertained. These 10 camping gadgets will not only help take the sting out of your smore-less nights, but they’re all compact enough to keep your load light as can be…

Osprey Atmos AG: This backpack’s boast of having “anti-gravity suspension” is most likely marketing-speak, but the trekkers who swear their 35-pound loads feel more like 20 pounds won’t hear of it. The real story is a lightweight mesh that hugs the body close from the hip to the shoulders, making the fit more like an extension of the body.

It’s time. It’s dad’s day. Pops. Pappy. The ol’ man.

And we know it would be easy to get him a card and a gorgeous new tie. But if you are honest with yourself, you know this is not what he really wants. So suck it up and give daddy what he really wants. Whether it be a new bike or just a bomber multitool, you know he deserves it. These fathers day gift ideas will help get him out there.

Osprey Rev 18: I put this bag on at the beginning of my ride, then immediately forget about it. That’s the highest recommendation I can give. It fits so well, and so snug that I never have think about it again, even when rolling through bumpy and variable terrain. The incredible fit is thanks to things like dual chest straps, an ample wait belt, and super plush and comfy shoulder straps…

We spent much of May riding eighteen miles to and from the office every day. Every mile was accomplished in comfort with the redesigned Osprey Radial 26. From the harness to the internal organization, this pack is built for serious bike commuters. A padded laptop compartment fits up to a 15 inch laptop, with an additional zippered tablet slot. The main compartment fit a change of clothes (who wants to show up to the office in sweaty spandex?), a sketchbook, and lunch with ease. Once again, the Osprey Farpoint 55 walks away as our Editors’ Choice winner. This pack has the travel-specific features that you want and the space that you need to maximize your experience. It is one of the best travel packs we’ve put our hands on and it scored near the top in the areas of comfort, features, ease of packing, and durability. Its sleek design is easy to carry through crowded streets and is much more ergonomic than some of the other packs that were short and wide. The main body of the pack provides 40 liters of packable volume. The 15 liter companion daypack is super useful and fastens to the outside of the pack more securely than any other detachable pack in the review. Further, this little pack is quite comfortable when used alone and had a range of pockets.
