I initially bought this pack prior to embarking on a larger thru-hike with side tracks that would only require a smaller pack. It was ideal for the job as it piggy-backed my Aether 70 thanks to Osprey's design team who included an attachment loop system in the 70. Now off the track, I find myself using the Day Lite for day-to-day activities, leaving my pockets clear and me hands-free. Its functionality is great and is very good value for money.

I bought this as a bus commuter bag. I picked it up because it was lightweight, had chest and waist straps, front pocket with a key holder and two water bottle holders. Sadly the waterbottle holders are terrible; the angle of the opening plus the curvature of the bag causes them to fall out all the time! I finally had to use a carabiner to keep mine on. Also the front pocket is not very big. The two interior mesh pockets are nice, but I wish they had made this deeper. Or alternatively put another pocket on the inside if the main compartment, The daylight is a lightweight bag that comes in great colors and almost suited all my needs, but alas the fact it can't hold water bottles very well means I can't recommend this bag to anyone.

Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

I bought this to attach to my porter, which has been fantastic. It's size, weight and durability have been fantastic along with the two mesh side pockets.

Although, I have two main complaints, the first is that is VERY uncomfortable to wear on your front as it chokes me with the 'handle'. There are times I would rather do this than take the time to attach to my main bag. I also find if it is worn for a long day my shoulders really hurt and I struggle to find a comfortable fit with it. A combination of both padding and the size, adjustability of the straps.
The second is the small front pocket, this is my more used 'stash' pocket and if it's full (which it often is) and the main compartment isn't full enough it falls forward when open often spilling the contents everywhere.

I am actually in the process of researching a new day pack to replace my daylite with these as my main considerations!

      Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

Bought this as a supplement to a Porter 46 (which I loved!) for a 1-month adventure in southern Indian. This pack was difficult to pack, very difficult to extract items from; small top/front compartment spills items when larger compartment open; accessible mesh side pockets hold nothing when pack is full, do not hold a water bottle even when pack is empty. A total disappointment and frustration. I returned the pack at the end of a month.

      Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

The Osprey Daylite Daypack is a pretty good backpack, but it could be better. Here is how; The webbing type material on the inside of the shoulder straps while probably used for good intentions; like stability during movement or something, destroyed the shoulders on my Exofficio waterproof light travel jacket. It seems to have roughed up the exterior shoulder area. The material is now frayed and looks like I'd had the jacket for multiple trips. I only used that jacket, with the backpack on a single 2.5 week trip. I maybe used the backpack every other day on that trip while walking about. I still love the backpack for what else it is designed for but you should probably remove that grid/mesh material in future builds. I will modify the pack that I have to this doesn't happen to any other expensive travel jackets.

        Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

I love my Osprey 22 yet wanted a smaller pack so I happily bought the Daylite. After using it for three day hikes where my water bottle continually fell out due to the angle of the pocket and/or the lack of elastic to hold it in the whenever I leaned over, I sadly returned. Great size, light weight, terrible design.
        Please Osprey fix it!

          Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

I am a guide and have used this pack every day for 2 years. It's fantastic! It holds all the essentials I need for a day at work and fits comfortably on my back and shoulders. I can easily fit a .75L or a 1L CamelBak bottle in the side pockets easily without them sliding out. My biggest disappointment about my pack is that after 2 years of constant use it has faded slightly...but I guess that's understandable with the hours it's spent in the sun.

            Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

This is a fabulous day pack for travel or around town. I use this pack as a companion piece to my Osprey 46L which I can attach it to. I also use the Daylite for hydration which is perfect for treks. If you are looking for something that you can stuff android to the "gills" this is not the pack for you. I am a minimalist and for scooting out and about during the day when traveling thru cities and local areas it works perfectly. This pack is not designed for long term, high volume packing inside. You want an say on the go day pack - go for this one!

            Comments about Osprey DAYLITE:

Great pack for day hikes and travel. Very light weight, comfortable and generous in size for day to day use and for day hikes. Nice internal pocket for laptop or tablet. Other good news is that the pack has a very generous flap to protect the main zipper from water getting in. The bad news is that the zipper continually gets snagged on the flap when opening and closing; a very fussy and annoying feature.

Bought this pack for my boyfriend to use while riding his motorcycle, it's the perfect size and very comfortable. Looks and feels great. Only thing I would recommend is for the little inner pockets in the front pocket to have either a zipper close or velcro, that way nothing can get out. Overall, great little pack and very handy!
