I need the large capacity for desert backpacking. The hook is not strong enough for the 3L of water and broke the first use. Also, the hose turned yellow and I only use it for water. I DO like the new system of filling compared with the old screw-on lid that would never align right and lose water. It is also lighter than the older version. I like the hose disconnect to allow for easier fill. I do not like needing two hands to open bite valve.

I needed a new bladder and was surprised to see the is new system from Osprey. Their previous model was my fav I've had so far (out of 6-7). I purchased this for two reasons (other than I lost my previous one). 1. The "All mighty Guarantee" and 2. just how not sexy the camelbak systems next to them were.
I gave this three stars for now. I have done one hike with it so far (BTW this new model fits perfectly into my four year old Raptor 14). Like another reviewer, I prefer the bite valve at 90 degrees as opposed to this 45 degree one. I also prefer the magnet placement on the older model. The zip-lock style of this bladder seems highly questionable to me. I forsee it being the Achilles heel of the whole thing. The only better aspect of this one is that it has gotta be lighter.
I will click "Yes, recommend to a friend" because I've had good luck with Osprey products and I believe, even if faulty, they will make it right. They wouldn't likely put heir name on it and offer the Guarantee if found faulty. We'll see!

I like the older styles better.

Comments about Osprey 3 LITER HYDRAULICS™ RESERVOIR:

This is the third generation of hydration bladders that I have owned from Osprey and I prefer the older styles for a couple of reasons. 1. I find it difficult to hold while filling. 2. It is a lot narrower than previous bladders which makes it thicker when full. This makes it difficult to load it into an already loaded pack and takes up valuable space. Would love to see a wider, thinner bladder. It is way easier to clean and I do like the new mouthpiece design.

Comments about Osprey 3 LITER HYDRAULICS™ RESERVOIR:

Both this bladder a couple of months ago after being very happy with previous Osprey hydration systems. Use it in various activities - from casual trail running, through to long runs, rogaining competitions and multi day hikes. Unfortunately the water stored in it aquires unpleasant plastic taste even after an hour. Tried washing it with or without detergent, drying it thoroughly, nothing helps.

I use the Raptor 14 daily on Black Diamond trails and this is by far the best pack. The Reservoir design is great and now way this thing will leak. I have had no plastic taste what so ever. I do add electrolyte flavored powder too. Someone said this was hard to fill and I have no idea how anyone could say that. Its easy and has a large opening to add ice if wanted. I freeze some water in it so Its cold.

Comments about Osprey 3 LITER HYDRAULICS™ RESERVOIR:

Broke my old bladder, got this new one. Been using it nearly daily for 9 months.

The new opening system fits a hand inside so I can scrape out the scunge. I also soak mine with gin. Really easy to clean.

The new opening system has a plasic slide that holds the flap shut. The slide has a hook on it to hang inside the pack. The hook isn't strong enough to hold 100oz of bouncing bladder and broke on the first use. Fortunately the bladder has a stabilizing plastic back so I just shove the bladder into the pouch on my pack and it stands up and is comfortable.

Really really happy with this bladder. If/when this one wears out I'll buy another.

Worked perfectly on a hiking trip in the Andes of Peru I just completed. I couldn't be more pleased. Easy to fill and no leaks. I love the design. Drying it out at the end of a trip is as easy as using a wad of paper towel to keep the large mouth open. I hung mine right side up and it dried out quickly. I expect it will last a long time. If I ever need another reservoir I will replace it with this same model. I am out of superlatives....

Comments about Osprey 3 LITER HYDRAULICS™ RESERVOIR:

Just got tested this today after getting a new pack as a warranty replacement. This is my third generation of Osprey's aqua bladder which started with the Nalgene one. I kind of like the zipper top for filling, it seems like a clever design but will take a few uses to get used to. Two things that I immediately do not like. 1) The angled mouth piece makes it impossible for hands free use on a bike. 2) There is no loop on the bottom of the bladder to hang dry overnight. I use my pack almost daily and usually hang the bladder next to the pack to drip dry between uses. Removing the loop that was on previous versions seems like an unnecessary oversight.

This reservoir was easy to figure out. You remove the slide and open the top like a bag of chips opens. I don't understand where "Mtb Bear" had the confusion. I love how the bladder has the hard back. I almost forget it's in my pack.
