Wendmag.com Features Osprey Bike Blog September 23, 2010

October 6, 2010

Until now, Osprey has been known entirely for its packs. From those created for hydration needs while on-the-go to traditional messenger bags and backpacks, Osprey is unanimous with quality packs. But as of the beginning of this week, September 20th, Osprey began making a name for itself in an entirely new realm with its brand new Bike Blog.

The Bike Blog will revolve around three specified themes: adventure, active lifestyle and advocacy. It will serve as a hub for bike information, news and inspiration. And the Blog will cater to bike enthusiasts–from the around-town commuter to the elite road racer.

“With the number of people at Osprey who are passionate about biking, creating a bike specific blog to share adventure stories, important advocacy information, and fun lifestyle items is a natural extension. The Osprey bike blog will be packed with relevant and interesting content ranging from elite endurance racing to local townie bike cruises and everything in between,” said Bike Marketing Manager Jeff Fox.

Bicycle Retailer and Industry News – Osprey Holding Fundraiser at Interbike OutDoor Demo – August 24, 2010

September 28, 2010

CORTEZ, CO (BRAIN)—Osprey Packs will be holding a fundraiser for the nonprofit 88Bikes at the Interbike OutDoor Demo in Las Vegas next month.

On September 20 and 21, Osprey will be offering their cycling-specific Raptor hydration packs in exchange for donations to 88Bikes. Interbike attendees can receive a Raptor 6 pack in exchange for a $20 donation and a Raptor 14 pack in exchange for a $30 donation (while supplies last).

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to 88Bikes in support of Villages, their fifth and biggest project to date. From June through November 2010, 88Bikes is reaching out to children in Africa, Mongolia, Latin America and the United States, focusing on small rural locations where their bikes can have a major impact. The funds raised through the Osprey event will specifically support 88Bikes efforts to bring bikes to kids in the Navajo Nation.

“We are thrilled to be supporting 88Bikes and their mission to give bikes to kids around the world, including children in our own backyard,” said Gareth Martins, marketing director of Osprey. “With Osprey’s corporate headquarters bordering the Navajo Nation and many of the original team members being Navajo, we feel a very strong connection with this project.”

Bikeradar.com – Osprey Talon 22 backpack – September 14th, 2010

September 22, 2010

The Talon’s well designed harness system gives a truly comfortable feel out on the trail. The deep hip belt sits snugly in position and it’s easy to fix the weight to your shoulders with the looped adjusters.

The Ripstop fabric used for most of the body means that you’re not carrying extra weight before you pack up, and once you do fill your pack, the profile is still sleek.

The overall effect is that the pack feels like it’s wrapped round your core, so that it not only seems like you’re carrying less, but the load remains supple and moves with you.

The well thought out pockets include zipped numbers on each side that you can access without removing the pack, and a stretchy helmet/wet weather compartment.

This is the pack we’d choose for epic days, and it’s also available in a 20L size to fit narrower or shorter backs. It has a hydration slot, but no bladder.
