The Exos Series really makes you stand back and realize how far pack technology has come. And they counter the idea that to shed weight, you have to give up bells and whistles. The Exos 58, for instance, is a 58-liter (for the medium size) pack that weighs less than 3 pounds. Three pounds! And you still get a breathable mesh back panel. Smart compression straps can either sit inside or outside of side mesh pockets. A genius trekking pole strap system gets your poles out of the way for scrambles, and front zips provide easy access to stuff in the middle of your pack. Choose from the Exos 34, (medium at 34 liters and 2 pounds 2 ounces), the Exos 46 (medium at 46 liters and 2 pounds, 5 ounces) or the 58, depending on how much gear you need to carry.

I have a bit of a fetish for daypacks and, as such, I’ve become quite particular about what I like and what annoys the heck out of me. That’s why I was so excited to try out my new Osprey Raptor 14 on a recent trip to Zion National Park. With temperatures pushing 100°F, hikes lasting hours and the air as dry as a bone, it’s incredibly important that you have the right supplies and that you’re comfortable throughout your time on the trails.
Osprey packs always feature impeccable construction and the Raptor 14 is no different. It feels indestructible. The reservoir is held snug and I never felt any sloshing around when I was hiking. The Raptor series utilizes Osprey’s AirScape suspension system, which helps distribute weight evenly and allows for airflow so that your back doesn’t become a sweaty mess.
We tested out Osprey’s Jet 18 backpack, designed with younger school kids in mind. Osprey sent us their cool Cherry Shake (also available in Lime Squeeze) to test out.
It’s designed for kids 5 to 10 years old. It fits my kindergartener nicely with room to grow – but not so much so that she is swimming in it. Yet enough room to fit her lunch box (and eventually snow boots, pants, gloves and hat).
It has a fleece-lined harness, which my daughter commented on its softness. There’s lots of room to stay organized – with a big exterior pocket with a buckle – to put in notes for kids to give their teachers and other stuff you don’t want them to forget. It also has side mesh pockets – perfect for a water bottle or a hat. Inside there’s an organizer to keep things neat – like books away from those extra shoes.
Skiing Business – Osprey Promotes Sarah Harper Burke to Retail Marketing Manager – August 31st, 2011
Cortez, CO – August 30, 2011 – Osprey Packs, Inc., a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance, innovative packs, announced today the promotion of Sarah Harper Burke to the position of Retail Marketing Manager.
Burke joined the company in 2009 as Pro Deal and Program Packs Manager. She was also responsible for launching Osprey’s Pro Shop Program, which implemented a new fixture point of purchase program with key dealers across the country. As Retail Marketing Manager, she will continue to manage this program, as well be the direct contact point for all marketing initiatives, programs and partnerships with Osprey’s retailers.
