Cirque Ladies climbing trip to Canada

This August, Madaleine Sorkin, Lorna Illingworth and Emily Stifler are planning a trip to climb in northern Canada’s Cirque of the Unclimbables. The team of three has recieved help from the American Alpine Club, and is taking off in T-15 days. They plan to meet in Bozeman, Montana, where Emily lives, and pack Madaleine’s diesel Sprinter van for the 2500-mile drive to Finlayson Lake, in the Yukon Territory. From there, they’ll helicopter 85 miles into the Northwest Territories, to the base of Mount Proboscis. They plan to attempt a free ascent of the entire 1963 Original Route on Proboscis.

A few weeks ago, the gals met in Yosemite and climbed Lurking Fear, a route on the left side of El Capitan. They spent two nights and three days on the wall, getting their systems dialed, free climbing as much as possible, and filming the ascent.
